My "Why"
On my 27th birthday, October 30, 1980, I received the most precious gift—the answer to my lifelong burning question:
"What happens after we die?"
Amber knew she was dying... she knew she would go to Heaven... she knew she would never leave me. I did not.
A few days before she died, she called me to her side and revealed the miracle that was about to unfold.
"Mom, when I die, I'll still be Amber, I'll just be different."
With the Key to Heaven in her hand to open the Golden Gates, she slipped away peacefully. And at that very moment, I physically felt her spirit... her soul merge with God and with me. I was transformed... grateful for the many lessons she taught me... aware of my Life Task: To share Amber's message of "hope, Heaven, and the miracle of life
and death." Her death was profound, powerful, and proof of a "good death." I believe it can be so for all of us, if we are open to receive the wisdom, beauty, serenity, and... yes... joy, this precious gift of life and death is waiting to bestow upon us.
I am called to share... to serve... to stand at The Threshold with others. This is why I am here on Earth.

Patti's book, Embrace the Angel, and her Life Work helping others have "a good death," fulfill a dream of artist, entrepreneur, and End-of-Life Doula, Patti DiMiceli. In 1980, the world was watching as she tried to save her 4-year-old daughter, Amber’s, life. After an extraordinary effort, she realized that her little girl would die. With Bernie Siegel, MD as Amber’s doctor, as well as the support of the public, they lived the rest of her life to the fullest. In the end, they helped this brave little girl cross The Threshold between life and death, transported to the Other Side by a human miracle.
Although Patti feared Amber’s death, her daughter’s words of wisdom reassured her. “Mom, when I die, I’ll still be Amber, I’ll just be different.” These amazing, insightful words motivated Patti to see life and death from a new perspective. She now embraces her Angel and knows that Amber did not die, she did not “pass away,” she simply changed. Her spirit... her legacy lives on as people around the world read her book, Embrace the Angel, share her message, and give the gift of Silky Angels to care for and comfort the ones they love.
Patti has channeled her desire to help others live their best, most powerful life through her company, Tobias & Co. LLC, named after her son, Toby. And now the Embrace the Angel community and our Be an Angel, Comfort an Angel Global Initiative literally touches the lives of millions of people around the world.
